Queenstowners looking for a bit more flexibility in their yoga schedule will be bending over backwards to get to a new-look studio.
Bikram Yoga and Studio Sangha owner Peggy Preston has expanded her hatha yoga studio in Industrial Place after a demand for more space and more classes.
She’s also welcoming 10 new local teachers to her business – they’ve spent the past few weeks completing an intensive 200-hour, accredited and internationally-recognised training programme under yoga guru Lance Schuler, to become qualified teachers.
The move bumps the frequency of classes from 14 a week to 25. Bikram classes remain at 16 a week.
Preston hopes to target beginners, older people and males through the studio expansion.
She’s having an opening party to launch the new-look studio on Sunday from 1-5pm and “everyone’s invited”.
Activities include pranayama breathing techniques, kirtan, drinks and nibbles and finishes with a “yoga idol” and games.
