Duncan Forsyth (right), from Gibbston’s Mount Edward, is among three Central Otago winemakers offering their wares short-term in Queenstown from today.
The A.O.C. – Active Otago Collective – also comprises Wanaka’s Maude Wines and Bannockburn’s Ceres Wines.
The cellar door/wine bar is open for nine days’ trading in the former Frasers Bar in the Steamer Wharf complex.
“There’ll be everything from shots to bottles for people to try in a super-relaxed atmosphere,” Forsyth says. “It’ll be the winemakers serving so the food, the wine and the chat will be really good.
“The service will be our own style and pace – be warned.”
Forsyth says a lucky visitor will win the Mount Edward magnum he’s holding.
The short-term wine tasting set-up comes weeks after Gibbston Valley Wines opened a new permanent tasting room on Arrowtown’s main street.
