Burning questions for 2012

SHARE
  • If the National Sevens was still being held in Palmerston North, do you think it’d be getting 4000-5000 punters through the gates each day?
  • Winnies, Ballarat, Buffalo Club, Bar Up and now Zephyr bar. Is Mike Burgess Queenstown’s new bar baron?
  • Or is Good Group’s Al Spary still the big swinging dick on that front?
  • Speaking of bars, how many of the ones up for sale right now will still be available at the end of the year?
  • Harry’s, anyone?
  • Is the number of bars up for sale perhaps an indication there are too many bars in Queenstown?
  • Or is the fact there’s one liquor licence for every 56 men, women and children a better indicator?
  • Or is the fact you can buy a handle of beer for $2.50 an even better indicator?
  • Pint, anyone?
  • Sick of looking at Hendo’s Hole on the way into Queenstown?
  • Won’t it be so much better when there’s a ginormous supermarket to look at instead?
  • Any bright ideas on how to pay for upgrades to Queenstown’s flagging infrastructure?
  • Bed taxes, anyone?
  • Feeling left out because you don’t mountain bike in summer?
  • Is that now the equivalent of not skiing or snowboarding in winter?
  • Fergburger, Fergbaker, FergCandleStickMaker?
  • Maybe not?
  • Cath Gilmour for mayor?
  • Adrian Bailey for mayor?
  • Surely he’d be in the running?
  • Jonathan Dixon for mayor?
  • Not funny?
  • But if he was in charge, wouldn’t we at least see more urgency behind the push for a functioning CCTV surveillance system downtown?
  • Sir Michael Hill for mayor?
  • Hoping he’ll bust out those striking multi-coloured pants for the New Zealand Professional Golf Association Pro-Am?
  • What are the odds that New Zealand’s next top tennis professional comes from Queenstown?
  • Is Bunker the coolest bar in town?
  • Did me asking that question just make the place a little less cool?
  • Does the opening of the roof at Winnies ever get old?
  • Ditto, fire on the bar at Skybar?
  • Run a red light at the Kawarau Bridge yet?
  • Should Queenstown’s second set of traffic lights be installed at that notorious two-lane roundabout near Queenstown Airport?
  • Boot camp or bikram?
  • Or both?
  • Appalled that Mountain Scene photographed Orlando Bloom coming out of the local movie theatre?
  • But do you remember anything else from that week’s edition?
  • Does tourism operator Off Road’s occupation of the lone free all-day parking spot on Shotover Street get up your nose?
  • Or is that an example of entrepreneurial Queenstown cheek at its very best?
  • Hoping for a repeat of the Lake Hayes A&P Show lawnmower race punch-up?
  • Or is there more chance of a brawl between drivers for Queenstown Taxis and new rival Green Cabs?
  • Why are there so many guys wearing sunnies strolling up and down Queenstown Bay of late?
  • Mint views?
  • Taken in a sunset while lying on the beach at Queenstown Bay yet?
  • What are you waiting for?
  • Has service around town improved since Queenstown Resort College started upskilling people a few years back?
  • Still with the person you pashed at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve?
  • Do you even remember their name?
  • Living the dream?
