Bungy zipride still zipping a year on

Queenstown’s AJ Hackett Bungy boss says the company’s Kawarau Zipride – a year old last Friday –  is hitting its intended market.

Dave Mitchell (left), taking a celebratory ride with sales & marketing manager Mike Voyce (centre) and owner Henry van Asch, says it’s aimed at Kawarau Bridge site visitors who aren’t game enough to bungy jump: “Typically for our bungy jumpers it’s not extreme enough but then for some people it’s actually at the top of the level of extremeness.

“As far as we’re aware it’s the only zipride in the world with three lines that can turn you around 180 degrees and bring you back to the top.”

More than 10,000 people took the ride in its first 12 months, Mitchell says.
