Looking for a breastfeeding and baby-friendly Queenstown cafe to head for a coffee with your bub?
Queenstown mums Vicky Pollard and Debbie Townsend are giving fellow parents a heads-up on the best eateries around town in their remarkablemilk blog.
Cafes are rated on whether they have changing tables, high chairs, pushchair access, toys for older children, a kids’ menu, affordability and tastiness.
Launched at the end of March, the blog has had almost 2000 visitors, and the women are now recruiting mums in other cities to contribute reviews.
“It just seems to be sprouting,” Townsend says.
As well as reviewing cafes, the women – both volunteer breastfeeding counsellors and members of La Leche League – want to promote breastfeeding in public.
“We are really passionate about breastfeeding and we just want it seen as normal,” Pollard says.
To alert mums about the “best” cafes to visit, they’re also putting remarkablemilk stickers in visible spots.
They’re hoping cafes will also start reading their reviews and become more conscious of being baby-friendly.
On the blog there are also nutritious smoothie recipes for breast-feeding mums and other handy tips.
