In the family: Artist Sarah Bultitude beside an image of her mum, aged 17

By PHILIP CHANDLER

An exhibition of stunning photographic works launches a contemporary Queenstown art gallery tonight.

The solo show, ‘Conceal’, features a new body of work by local award-winning photographer Sarah Bultitude.

It’s showing in a small gallery called Broker occupying the ground floor space at 85 Beach Street under Mountain Club.

It’s operated by local artist Marc Blake, founder and director of Five Mile’s Queenstown Contemporary gallery.

In his new space he’s planning to exhibit local, national and international artists, and offer works from private collections.

‘‘We are making the kind of gallery that artists want to be a part of.

“I’ve been working hard or the past couple of years to try and change the landscape for art here, and I think we are at the beginning of a new era.’’

Blake says Bultitude’s ‘‘unique and exceptionally-presented photographs will fill the new
space, creating a hauntingly-beautiful atmosphere’’.

Gallery hours will be Wednesday till Sunday, noon till 6pm.

Anyone’s welcome to attend tonight’s opening, which starts at 5.30pm.
