Queenstown’s body-on-ice man Stephen Royds is snapped on one of his first nights out after returning to the resort this month. Royds, pictured with TV3 60 Minutes reporter and former Queenstowner Melanie Reid, was spotted at The Ballarat Trading Co in The Mall last Saturday night. Royds recently finished serving half of his four-year sentence in a Californian prison for drug convictions. When he was arrested in 2008, cops found the body of his dead girlfriend Monique Trepp preserved on ice in his hotel room. She’d died of a drug overdose a year prior. Royds currently lives at his parents’ Queenstown home.
