Yellow fever has struck the Wakatipu – but it’s all for a good cause.
Bunches of daffodils distributed in the Queenstown area to businesses this week raised $16,500 for the Cancer Society.
Among those bunching up the daffodils at the Queenstown Bowling Club on Monday were (from left) Frankton coordinator Shirley Palmer, Queenstown coordinator Jan Robertson and Arrowtown coordinator Ngaire Pannell.
Robertson says the funds will be used in Otago and Southland to help cancer research and patient care services.
Local businesses pre-ordered 1650 bunches of the pretty flowers, which were $10 a pop.
Local Cancer Society volunteers will also be selling flowers to the general public tomorrow on the official national Daffodil Day.
Separately, the cast of new Remarkables Theatre show Calendar Girls have a Daffodil Day stand at Glassons in Queenstown today.
One in three New Zealanders are affected by some form of cancer.
