A new $225,000 ambulance will hit the road in Queenstown.
The ‘Generation 3’ ambulance was officially dedicated at a ceremony in the resort yesterday.
It’s the result of funding grants from the Central Lakes Trust and Southern Trust.
About 40 people attended the dedication, which included a blessing by Reverend David Brown.
A St John spokesman says the Gen3 has an improved interior layout, allowing ambulance officers to work more efficiently and comfortably when treating patients.
It also has the Stryker power-load stretcher, which is a hydraulic stretcher able to lift up to 318kg at the touch of a button.
Knight of St John Ian Rae congratulated the trusts on providing “such a vehicle and piece of equipment, to be used to extend the work of St John to those who need our care”.
