Queenstown-based doctor Sam Hazledine has been honoured as one of six new Blake leaders at the 10th anniversary of the Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards.
The multi-talented doctor, author and founder of MedRecruit received the accolade on Saturday night at Shed 10 in Auckland.
MedRecruit has helped ensure that healthcare providers in both New Zealand and Australia are connected with the right medical staff to ensure the best patient care.
Dr Hazledine said he believed “great leaders help people around them see an opportunity in their world and then willingly take action towards achieving it”.
Originally from New Plymouth, the 2003 University of Otago graduate practised emergency department medicine until 2006 when he started MedRecruit.
The highest accolade of the evening – the Blake Medal – was awarded to Sir Peter Jackson for his outstanding leadership and contribution to tourism.
