Bain spotted out and about in Queenstown

Former convicted murderer David Bain has been spotted in Queenstown today (Friday).

Bain is believed to have taken a trip up the Skyline Gondola with a female companion at about 11am.

A female eyewitness, who doesn’t want to be named, says he walked past her on his way in to the gondola terminal.

“He was with a lady-friend, about his age, they were just walking together. He appeared relaxed; he was wearing jeans, a blazer and a scarf,” she says.

“He was pretty hard to miss, ever since he’s been on TV he’s pretty recognisable.”

Bain was acquitted of the 1994 murder of his five family members in a retrial in 2009. He spent 12 years in prison for the Dunedin killing before his conviction was overturned.
