Trenz, the country’s biggest annual tourism industry tradeshow, will return to Auckland next year.
The $23.4 million international marketing event, which was held in Queenstown in 2011 and 2012, concludes today in Auckland, where the 2013 show has been held for the past four days..
Trenz organisers, the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA), announced the location for the 2014 event this morning.
It will take place on May 18-21 next year, again at central Auckland’s waterfront. This year’s event was the first time Trenz was held in the centre of Auckland, utilising The Cloud and Shed 10 at the waterfront.
Returning to Auckland in 2014 will give the host region more opportunity to benefit from the event, as many international buyers attend on alternate years, TIA chief executive Martin Snedden says.
Several regions have registered their interest in hosting Trenz in future.
“Trenz is a fabulous opportunity for regions to showcase what they have to offer international visitors and we look forward to taking the event to other parts of New Zealand in future,” Snedden says.
Queenstown’s hosting of Trenz was hugely successful for the Southern Lakes region.
Trenz brings together about 250 NZ tourism operators with 290 invited international travel and tourism buyers, plus international and domestic media.
