An Auckland couple have won a holiday to Queenstown after volunteering to get matching bungy-themed tattoos.
Toni Love and Joshua Hemara promised to get inked for the AJ Hackett 25th anniversary competition.
The competition asked punters what they’d do to win a five-day trip to the resort.
The couple’s entry was picked out by AJ Hackett Bungy co-founder Henry van Asch as being the “craziest and best entry by far”.
They’ll be flown down on Saturday and spend a week braving all AJ Hackett bungy jumps and swings, along with jet boat rides, luge, zip rides, go-karting and other activities.
“We’re super excited and a bit nervous,” Love, 22, says.
“I had to convince Josh about the tattoo offer – so I started off more extreme saying we could volunteer to do it naked.
“The size and location of the tattoos are up for negotiation but that’s not a free invitation for them to tattoo my face.”
Art student Love says the trip will also give her the chance to meet her three-week old nephew, Jack.
“We’re both university students so our budget doesn’t stretch far enough to allow us to visit my sister and her new family, yet alone an awesome holiday,” Love says.
“I’m also fairly terrified of heights,” Love says.
“We both bungy jumped in Queenstown last year and I had to summon up a lot of courage –I nearly grabbed the jumpmaster as I left the platform.”
Love and Hemara, who have been together three years on Monday, will stay in the Lakeview Room at Crowne Plaza.
They’ll be treated to a traditional Queenstown holiday – all the AJ Hackett activities, a trip up Skyline gondola, a pub crawl and Fergburger – along with the return airfare.
They’ll also attend the invite-only VIP AJ Hackett Bungy 25th Birthday party on November 12, 2013.
