Artist celebrates Scottish heritage


Well-regarded North Island textile artist Fiona Kerr Gedson explores her Scottish heritage in an exhibition opening at Queenstown’s Artbay Gallery tonight. Entitled Kerr, it includes Tartan 1 (right), made of feathers. 

Gedson – who works from a straw bale studio in the Eastern Bay of Plenty – was taught to weave by Maori women. 

Her work is held in many overseas collections and she’s exhibited in Los Angeles, France and Japan. Her 

Queenstown exhibition runs till November 22.
