A new global food stall will add a touch of spice to St Joseph’s School book fair on Sunday.
The annual fundraiser for Queenstown’s Catholic primary school is expected to net about $20,000 for the school’s Parent Teachers Association.
And along with the usual bargain-priced books on offer, culinary treats from France, Nepal, Philippines, Lebanon, Austria and other countries are being prepared and sold by parents this year. “I think it’s really awesome for the kids because they are learning from a young age that there are a lot of different cultures here in Queenstown,” Pauline Copland from the PTA says.
A chocolate wheel, raffle and bouncy castle will also be on school grounds to keep youngsters entertained during the event, which runs from 10am-2pm.
