The adventure and outdoor tourism sector has won a huge reduction in its compulsory Accident Compensation Corporation levies.
The Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand, in a newsletter last Friday, says it’s “delighted to have helped an estimated 200 TIA member businesses in the adventure and outdoor tourism sector”.
The TIA had been working with ACC to review the levy.
Levies for businesses classified by ACC as ‘amusement and other activities’ will drop for 2013/2014 from $3.48 to $0.84 per $100 of payroll.
“Some operators will save thousands of dollars a year,” TIA states.
From April 1, ACC will put alpine and white-water rafting operators in a new category.
Their levies will drop from $3.48 to $2.56 per $100 of payroll.
