Hockey one: Queenstown hockey team goal-scoring centre half Hope Bates
|
The Queenstown women’s hockey team is now the only undefeated team in its league.
The side demolished Upper Clutha 5-1 at Cromwell last Saturday for their second victory in two outings. In their first match of the season Queenstown creamed Maniototo 6-1.
Against Upper Clutha, Queenstown players Linda Williams and Gilly Hindlay scored twice each while Hope Bates also knocked in a goal.
The convincing victory won them the Southland Champions Trophy.
The side now faces arch-rival Alexandra this Saturday at Cromwell.
