The future of Wakatipu healthcare will be unveiled to the community tonight.
The National Health Board’s specially-appointed expert panel is due to announce its recommendations for the resort – after two months’ extensive research with stakeholders and locals.
Tonight’s recommendations will be a major milestone in the longstanding saga of Queenstown healthcare – following battles for equitable funding and services between residents, lobby groups and the Southern District Health Board.
The expert panel – comprising chairman Dr Peter Foley, consumer expert David Russell, Christchurch Hospital’s emergency department clinical director Dr Angela Pitchford and national clinical director for emergency department services, Prof Mike Ardagh – will also produce its report on the best structure for primary and secondary health services.
The report’s community release is in advance of a full SDHB meeting in Queenstown on Friday.
Tonight’s meeting will be held at City Impact Church at 7.30pm.
