Queenstown rugby league player Tevin Arona (right), 15, has been selected to play a curtainraiser to a Test match.
Tevin lines up for a NZ residents’ under-18 Cook Islands side who’ll play a Cook Island residents under-18 XIII in Rarotonga on October 6. The game precedes an international between the Kiwis and Cook Islands.
Early this year Tevin played for a Wakatipu High league team coached by his dad Tai in the Southland 9s competition.
Originally from Christchurch, he’s made Canterbury age-group league sides.
Since living in Queenstown he has also played under-age rep rugby for Otago Country and Central Otago.
