Happy hire: Craig Douglas (right) and James Coddington
New NZSki sales and marketing boss Craig Douglas will move from flogging whiteware to promoting the white stuff.

Douglas has worked with appliance maker Fisher & Paykel for 14 years, latterly as its sales and marketing vice-president.

He replaces David Ovendale, who resigned from NZSki four months ago for unstated “personal reasons”.

Auckland-based Douglas, 45, beat 100 applicants for the job, promoting Queenstown ski areas Coronet Peak and The Remarkables and Canterbury’s Mt Hutt. He’ll start in six to eight weeks.

NZSki chief executive James Coddington says Douglas stood out because of his experience in “international brand building and connecting with consumers and business partners”.

Douglas says it was “too good an opportunity not to have a run at”.

He’s vacationed in Queenstown “since I can remember” and has an Arrowtown holiday home.

“This is our spiritual home.”

Douglas will head a team of seven.

One vacancy exists after the recent resignation of marketing services manager Anna Wright.
