Wakatipu netball’s premier competition has a new team that’s become a strong contender.

Impact Players was formed to prevent the previously uneven draw causing a bye – however the team is now playing for points.

Made up of “B” players from strong team Chico’s/ABL, Impact beat Wakatipu High A last Saturday 16-15.

“Most of us are a bunch of has-beens,” player and Wakatipu Netball Centre’s Kay McLeod jokes.

“It’s basically a team of players who have played premier grade but can’t commit to playing a full season.”

In senior A grade, Harcourts came out on top, pummelling WHS Gold 45-8.

Due to the lower number of teams in the premier grade compared to senior A, premier teams miss a game this weekend.

Senior A draw for Saturday:
1pm: WHS Yr 9A v Executive Accommodation; Glenorchy v WHS Blue; 2pm: Cougar Security v Harcourts; 3pm: WHS Reserve v WHS Gold; 4pm: WHS Yr 9A v Harcourts; Cougar Security v WHS Blue; 5pm: Executive Accommodation v WHS Gold; Glenorchy v WHS Reserve.
All games at Events Centre, Frankton.
