Local foot specialist Gareth Milne has stepped into elite netball circles after landing a deal with the Southern Steel.
The owner of Queenstown Podiatry has recently been confirmed as the official podiatrist for the Invercargill-based team.
Milne says his type of sports podiatry – combining joint mobilisation, manipulation, dry needling and “prolo therapy”, or glucose injections, is the first of its kind in New Zealand. It’s more commonly used in Australia, where he used to work.
Milne travels to Invercargill once a week to see Steel players, plus other private patients.
“It’s been quite a privilege to be involved with elite athletes,” he says.
“The feedback from the players regarding the cutting edge treatment options we provide has been really excellent.”
