Dyslexia guru: Neil MacKay will be in Queenstown next week.

International dyslexia expert Neil MacKay is visiting Queenstown to help affected local parents understand their children’s learning difficulties.
MacKay, from England, is being hosted by the Dyslexia Foundation of New Zealand and will speak at the “Making the Connection” conference – on from 9am-12.30pm at Millbrook Resort on June 6.
He’ll talk about how to present information in different ways to help kids struggling with the condition.
Queenstowner Guy Pope-Mayell, who has two children with dyslexia and heads the foundation, says the workshop should help parents who are baffled when their otherwise intelligent, fun-loving offspring start school and struggle with basic skills.
Parents and teachers from twelve Central Otago schools will attend the seminar and two schools have the chance of winning $1750 towards making their environment dyslexia friendly.
The cash – raised from ticket sales – will be matched by a donation of the same amount from Queenstown’s new Cookie Time store.
Thirty spots are still available and those interested can donate $20 and register at Cookie Time on Camp Street.
