Queenstown alpine ski racer Adam Barwood is fast moving up the ranks after a string of successful races recently.
Barwood, pictured racing in a giant slalom race during the Japanese FIS race series last month, collected three trophies from the event at Coronet Peak.
Pictured (right) with coach Guenther Birgmann, Barwood picked up the Bruce Grant Trophy, the Wiggley Cup and the Coronet Cup for the top performing Kiwi in slalom and giant slalom and from combined results over the four-day event in August.
Barwood won the open men’s slalom title as well as the junior men’s slalom title at the national ski racing championships at Coronet Peak last weekend.
He competes in the final races of the Australia New Zealand Continental Cup at Mount Hutt this weekend and next week.
Mum Anne Barwood says Adam has had a good season despite tough conditions for racing.
“He’s improved his world ranking, which has been his goal.”
