Trans-Tasman banter will reach record levels for this Sunday’s All Blacks-Australia Rugby World Cup semi – especially at the Bamfords’.

Former Wakatipu Premiers captain Richard is a passionate All Blacks fan – but the colours for his Brisbane-born wife Jane are green and gold.

“There’s a bit of banter,” he says.

“She’s pretty keen to get the kids’ on side. If they’re no good, they can go and play for the Wallabies,” Richard jokes.

The Arthurs Point couple have two children, Baxter, four, and Amity, two.

Jane says: “When the kids watch with me they support Australia, but when they’re with dad it’s New Zealand.”

“Richard would never support Australia – it’s like swearing to him.”
