The world’s record wicket-taker plays a Twenty/20 HRV Cup cricket game at the Queenstown Events Centre tomorrow.

Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralidaran plays for the Wellington Firebirds against the Otago Volts.

Muralidaran last year took his 800th wicket with his last ball in Test cricket and also has the record – 534 wickets – for one-day internationals.

His Wellington deal arose from his connection with ex-New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming, who formerly coached his Indian Premier League franchise.

The Volts include New Zealand star Brendon McCullum.

About 4000 people are expected to attend. Gate tickets are $20 adults, $5 children and $45 for families. The game starts at 2pm.
