A jetboat driver suffered a broken arm after becoming trapped under his vessel when it rolled on the Rees River near Glenorchy.
Emergency services rushed to the scene – five km upstream from Lake Wakatipu – at 5pm yesterday (Saturday).

Two men, believed to be from Twizel, were in the alloy jetboat when it crashed.
Glenorchy St John paramedic Callan Grimmer says: “It hit a bar coming down stream and rolled once.
“One was trapped for a period of time but his colleagues had got out by the time I arrived.
“It was a broken arm and minor lacerations.”
The driver was airlifted to Southland Hospital in Invercargill by a Heliworks chopper using night-vision equipment.
The boat was left overnight and recovered this morning.
