Dotting down: Ireland rugby captain Brian O'Driscoll at Queenstown Airport

Irish rugby captain Brian O’Driscoll says it’s great to be back in Queenstown.

The team flew into the resort today (Sunday) on a chartered Air New Zealand ATR plane.

Last night they lost just 22-19 to the All Blacks in the second Test of a three-Test series in Christchurch.

O’Driscoll says his team’s management decided to base the team in Queenstown for four days’ training after the success of their pre-World Cup training camp in the town last September.

But clearly, as he pointed to the scenery from the airport terminal, it’s also a popular choice with the players.

O’Driscoll won’t be bungy jumping while he’s here but is some of his teammates will be game for it.

Asked if he’d had a sleepless night after just failing to beat the All Blacks for the first time in 107 years of rivalry,
O’Driscoll says he never sleeps after a Test, win or lose.

The team will be training at the Events Centre from tomorrow till Thursday, when they fly to Hamilton for the third Test on Saturday.

They’ll have exclusive use of the main oval, changing rooms and stadium as required from 8am till 6pm each day.

Thursday morning’s training session on the oval will be open to the public.
