A high-profile Wakatipu man has been arrested and charged with the indecent assault of a woman.
The 65-year-old can’t be identified because he’s been granted interim name suppression.
The man was arrested following a complaint of an “indecent incident” against a woman that is alleged to have occurred in Central Otago last month, Alexandra detective sergeant Derek Shaw confirms.
The man appeared at a registrar’s sitting of the Alexandra District Court on December 7 and was bailed to reappear at that court on January 18.
Shaw says name suppression, which will continue till then, wasn’t supported by police.
“This investigation is ongoing and it is not anticipated that police will make any other comment at this stage.”
