The Queenstown Gymnastics Club has had a winning trip competing in Invercargill.

Club member Carol Lozano, eight, was judged first-equal in the vault, second in uneven bars and third in the beam to gain a second-overall ranking in the Step 2 class at the Southland Championships last weekend.

Fellow Queenstown club member Ana Tapper, aged seven, finished third in the vault and the floor while Tasmin Hepburn, eight, took home a bronze in the beam.

As a team, the girls came second-overall in their class.

Sophie Stalker, 10, was third in the floor for Step 3.

In the higher Step 4 grade, Olivia Whelan-Henderson, 13, came first-overall, winning the vault and coming second in the floor.

Brehna Williams, 12, finished third in the vault.

Whelan-Henderson and Williams came second-overall in the Step 4 teams category.

The Queenstown Gymnastics Club now travels to Dunedin this weekend where members hope to get more medals at the Otago Championships for Step 4.

They’ll also compete in the Dunedin Gymnastics Academy competition.
