No wining: Kiwi favourites Bic Runga, Tim Finn (centre) and Dave Dobbyn are back to play at Millbrook
|
About 2000 fans will flock to the Winery Tour at Millbrook on Monday – but promoters reveal the show was almost pulled.
The gig featuring a line-up of Kiwi favourites was in the balance as tour bosses sweated about transporting stage gear to the venue from a concert near Christchurch 48 hours beforehand.
“Getting equipment to Millbrook safely was a real issue and we had to make a call on it for production reasons,” says Auckland-based Brent Eccles, co-boss of promoters Civic Events.
“We debated whether we should do Millbrook or not but figured we should go ahead and do it on the Monday – it’s such a good setting.
“Tickets are doing well.”
Fans going to the Millbrook concert will see Kiwi music legends Tim Finn, Bic Runga and Dave Dobbyn performing together for the first time in almost a decade.
“The whole Tim, Bic and Dave thing is a slice of New Zealand history,” Eccles says.
“They have so many hits between them and they work together so well.”
Boh Runga – Bic's older sister formerly of band Stellar – and Che Fu, who went solo after finding fame with Supergroove, kick the gig off at about 6pm. Doors open at 5pm
