Get ready for an armchair adventure in Queenstown

Leaps and bounds: Queenstown's Adventure Film Festival is returning next month
Queenstown’s Adventure Film Festival is returning for its fifth year running next month. 

Festival director Kirsten Nicholl promises the 2010 films selected will inspire viewers to get out and create their own adventures. 

“The line-up this year will again motivate, stimulate and challenge everyone from the armchair adventurer to the hardcore alpinist and will touch all who see it.” 

The showcase of award-winning action sports, travel and adventure films opens on August 12 at Memorial Hall. 

A series of short films celebrating adventures on snow, land, water and in the air run during the first four nights till August 15. 

Two longer high-altitude flicks screen on the final night on August 16. 

Musician Fernando Aragones - dubbed the Brazilian Jack Johnson - returns with his soulful acoustic guitar show during evening sessions.

Award-winning Queenstown-based landscape photographers Jackie Ranken and Mike Langford will  also run an exhibition of their work to coincide with the festival.

The film line-up will be announced in coming weeks at scene.co.nz.
