First run: Queenstowners Talleulah Bryant, seven, and older brother Cougar, nine, claim the first ride of Coronet Peak's Coronet Express Quad on opening day
For the second year running a snow-mad pair of Queenstown youngsters has claimed first tracks on Coronet Peak opening day.

Nine-year-old Cougar Bryant and his sister Talleulah, seven, claimed the first tracks this morning (Saturday) – the pair were accompanied by father Tim.

The brother and sister claimed coveted ‘First on the chair’ t-shirts. Joining them for the first ride up the Coronet Express Quad chair were Queenstowner Alex de Kort, 19, and Hong Kong’s Hugo Cribbin, 22, on his second season in NZSki’s rentals department. The latter pair also claimed 'First on the chair' tops and - unlike the young Bryants - were able to partake in complimentary bubbles from Amisfield Winery.

A further 200 skiers and boarders were queuing up for the lift for the 9am lift-off.

Coronet Peak opened with the Coronet Express Quad providing access to the main M1 and Express Way trails, while the Meadows Express lift enabled skiers and boarders to access the Big Easy novice trail and carpet lifts to the main beginners’ area.

Super start to Queenstown ski season
