Queenstown breweries are celebrating major medal hauls at last Saturday’s Brewers Guild of New Zealand annual beer awards.
Altitude Brewing won gold for its strong pale ale, The Mischievous Kea, plus three silvers and three bronzes.
Canyon Food & Brew Co. won three silvers and a bronze – head brewer Jonathan Kauri is pictured with their winning line-up after Monday’s snow dump.
Director Matthew Day says the win’s an extraordinary achievement for Kauri.
“Other medal winners have been perfecting their recipes for years.
“Our brewery was only built three months ago and Jonathan made each of these medal-winning beers himself using recipes he’s only just developed right here on site at Arthurs Point.”
Altitude Brewing owner Eliott Menzies is delighted with his seven-medal haul, and is very proud The Mischievous Kea’s been named the South Island’s top IPA for five years running.
Local Cargo Brewing Co. also picked up a bronze.
