Winter trip: Candyman with his family

He calls himself the Candyman and he may be Queenstown’s newest advocate across the ditch.

Travers Beynon – Aussie’s answer to Hugh Hefner – flew in to the resort last week with an entourage, including son Valentino and daughters Lucciana, Velacia and Serafina, wife Taesha and his girlfriend, Nisha Downes.

Here celebrating Lucciana’s 17th birthday, the family – decked out in matching Candy-branded clothes – holed up at the Sofitel Queenstown, and had a complete itinerary for their five-day trip.

Beynon’s a Gold Coast-based tobacco mogul and owner of FreeChoice Australia, which reportedly rakes in $250 million a year.

Last year the former AFL player, turned model, turned playboy, had an estimated net worth of $50 million.

The 46-year-old tells Mountain Scene the family hired four rooms at the Sofitel, including “Penthouse No. 10”, which has its own balcony hot tub and a cinema room for $7k-plus a night.

While in the resort they did the Nevis Bungy, took a trip with KJet and learnt to ski at Coronet Peak.

None of the kids had ever been to the snow but they loved it that much a winter holiday’s now going to be an annual event, he says.

They also headed up Skyline’s gondola, popped out to Gibbston Valley Winery and Cheesery and went horse riding at Moonlight Stables, near Arrowtown – a first for the little girls.

“They both had the best day and were so excited to be on a horse for their first time ever,” he says.

Beynon says he visited the resort last September for business and “discovered how exciting the place could be to take all the family”.

“Queenstown is without doubt the best destination to go as a family if you enjoy doing activities that bring everybody together, it was the type of experience that makes you bond more as a team/family and create memories and moments that you will never forget.”

The Candyman’s widely known in Aussie for his extravagant lifestyle and love of women.

The entire family, including his girlfriend, live in what he’s dubbed the Candy Shop Mansion, which boasts about 16 bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, a gold-plated swimming pool, movie theatre, three-metre statue of Poseidon, and ceilings inspired by the Sistine Chapel.

Each weekend about 30 women are invited to join in the fun – and his social media accounts are littered with photos documenting the debauchery.

He’s also got an application form for willing party-goers to fill out to be in with a shot of nabbing one of 1000 invites to his annual party in December – last year it was themed “Freaks Unleashed”.

Beynon’s also got a bent for expensive cars, which include a gold-plated Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, one of the most expensive cars in the world; a Ferrari F40; Rolls Royce Wraith; Bentley Continental; a couple of Audi Q7s and a Harley Davidson.

He’s also set up his own motorsport team (Travers Beynon Racing) and, to top it off, he’s also got a pimped-out custom speed-boat.
