An escort allegedly ran up huge bills at posh Queenstown hotels before leaving without paying in full.

The Dunedin girl, 19, is said to have stayed in two hotels for several nights. It is not known whether she entertained her clients there.

Police arrested her last Tuesday and she has been charged with obtaining by deception.

Senior constable Sean Drader says: “Other big hotels in Queenstown should be aware that this has happened.

She has been allegedly racking up big bills and not paying, or not paying the full amount.”

Punched for pink shirt

Four men from Invercargill have been arrested on assault and disorderly behaviour charges after two violent incidents.

A freezer worker, 18, and his labourer mate, 20, both allegedly punched a man in the face outside Subway in the early hours of Sunday.

“The 18-year-old was said to have grabbed the victim from behind on the shoulder and asked him why he was wearing a pink shirt,” Drader says. “The offender then allegedly punched the victim in the mouth breaking his tooth.”

In another incident, a 24-year-old was seen outside Hallensteins allegedly throwing a haymaker punch at a man, who received a cut lip.

The Invercargill man’s brother, 18, took exception to his arrest and was arrested for disorderly behaviour.
Pants-down Englishman

A 22-year-old Englishman decided it was a good idea to drop his pants in public last Friday night.

The tourist was being spoken to by officers in a patrol car after being ejected from Altitude Bar by bouncers. He then dropped his trousers.

“Several bystanders were apparently alarmed,” Drader says.

The man was arrested for offensive behaviour and given a pre-charge warning.

Trouble for tattooist

A tattooist was arrested after an incident at Queenstown Airport.

The 31-year-old man had turned up too late and was stopped from boarding by ground staff. He allegedly punched and broke a sign.

“It seems he was angry and punched the sign out of frustration, causing some damage,” Drader says.

Police were called to the airport at 9.30am on Saturday. They charged the man with wilful damage.

An Arrowtown chef was charged with the same offence after allegedly kicking a bucket filled with paint at a mate in Searle Lane at 2.15am. The man, 22, was arrested the next day.

Laptop stolen

An Acer laptop was stolen from Resort Cottage, Fernhill, sometime on Friday evening. The computer is silver on top and black on the back.

“They stole the computer but left the power cord behind,” Drader says.

There were also thefts from four cars on Earnslaw Terrace between 1am and 9.30am on the same day. A silver iPod nano and headphones was stolen from one, and loose change from others.

The cars were not locked.
