Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS) is a Charitable Trust and is the largest social service and aged care provider in Southland.

PSS encompasses two service arms, Family Works and Enliven. Enliven provides services for the older generation with support through their home-based, independent and retirement living.

We work to enable a positive and lasting change for everyone in our community and offer support services to people regardless of their race, beliefs or background.

We are looking for someone to provide high quality caretaking and maintenance work on the grounds and buildings at PSS’s Frankton Court Retirement Cottages. This role is for someone who can do a bit of everything.

This role may be part-time or contract and will be focused on maintaining the grounds at Frankton Court, implementing a maintenance schedule and undertaking emergency maintenance when required.

Hours will fluctuate, with more work required over spring and summer, and can be negotiable for the right person.

Health and safety is a big consideration in this role – you will be expected to adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures and comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 at all times.

The position is ideally suited to someone with a background in caretaking or maintenance, who enjoys dealing with older people, is pro-active, and who can be flexible in their approach.

    Key attributes for this role

    • Demonstrated maintenance and/or caretaking experience
    • Some trade experience would be advantageous, but not essential
    • A current Approved Handlers certificate or ability to obtain is desirable
    • Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation and requirements
    • Flexible and adaptable
    • Pro-active, thoughtful and considerate

Pre-employment testing and a criminal history check will be required.

Please apply online at and include a cover letter and CV, or contact Mark Dowling on 03 211 8208 for more information or an application form.
