    Otago / Queenstown-Lakes
    CEO & general management

Broken Heart Spirits is one of the forerunners of New Zealand’s independent gin movement. Based in Arrowtown, the company won double gold for its original gin at the 2020 New Zealand Spirits Awards, as well as silver for its spiced rum, vodka, pinot noir and quince gins. Current expansion plans are to increase brand awareness, as well as national and international sales. Two full-time positions have been created to help achieve these objectives.

Sales & Marketing South East Asia Director

You will observe/participate in everything to do with each product in its production, packaging, distribution, tastings, sales and marketing. This knowledge will be beneficial when guiding tours through the distillery and holding tastings, as well as when back in South East Asia organizing sales & marketing initiatives together with customer support.

You need to be fluent in Japanese, Mandarin and English. Previous work experience with sales and marketing activities in South East Asia, as well as in the hospitality industry, would be an advantage. You must be good at planning, working effectively without supervision, have attention to detail, and be reliable and organized. You also need a New Zealand driver’s licence as well as a forklift licence. A New Zealand duty manager’s licence would be an advantage but not essential.

    Assistant Distiller

You will join our small team based at our distillery in Queenstown. You would need to have a “can-do” attitude, enjoy working in a team environment, be motivated, reliable and have had at least 1 year’s previous work experience in a distillery.

You would assist our Master Distiller in the production and development of Broken Heart Spirits products. You need the ability to sometimes work unsupervised, carry out jobs with the attention to detail and accuracy, problem solve especially under pressure, and be flexible with your work schedule.

A forklift licence is required. You also need a New Zealand driver’s licence. It would be an advantage, but not essential, to have a duty manager’s licence too.

If you would like to apply for one of these positions please submit your CV and cover letter to: Joerg Henkenhaf,

Applications close on the 14th of April.
