It’s set to be a bumper weekend for school fundraisers, with two big events looking to raise cash for local kids.
You don’t often hear Swanndris and sparkles in the same sentence, but the two will come together for a good cause in Arrowtown.
Arrowtown School’s PTA’s holding a fundraising gala quiz night tomorrow night, at the Athenaeum Hall.
The theme’s ‘Swanndris and sparkles’, or, ‘Gore meets glamour’. It’s $150 for teams of six, with doors opening at 6.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Remarkables Primary School CAR-nival is on the cards for Saturday, 10am-2pm.
The event will raise funds for projects including installing additional shade spaces, further outdoor tables and seating, and installing further fixed sporting equipment.
Some of the funds raised will also be used for kapa haka uniforms, library resources, and classroom literacy and numeracy resources.
School community contact Tracey Pedersen says the event’s now “much anticipated” in the area.
This year’s event will be a little different.
The Queenstown Car Club’s been unable to put on their usual show this year, so a car boot sale will be held instead, Pedersen says.
It’ll be held on the rugby field above the school, while the school itself will host food stalls, a plant sale prepared by pupils, a Scholastic book fair, dozens of children’s activities including golf-putting, wet-the-teacher, photo booths, and a haunted house.
There’ll also be 10-minute KJet rides available for $12.
“It will also be a great opportunity for some pre-Christmas shopping from a great selection of silent auction items, chocolate wheel and stalls.
“We’re planning a great day out for all the family and want the whole community to be a part of it.”
