Southland driver Roger Preston (obscured) and navigator Kerry Wilson tear up the Shotover towards Tucker Beach last Sunday ahead of 19 other boats.

They took out the New Zealand Jet Boat River Racing Association’s Southern Series, held over five rivers, by 1min 50sec from local driver Regan Williamson and navigator Pete Reid, who won the last leg back to Queenstown via the Kawarau River.

The drivers earlier completed two legs on the Dart River, near Glenorchy, after taking on the Matukituki and Clutha Rivers, near Wanaka, the day before.
