Recently the horror genre has been plagued by gore and violence. However a true horror fan looks back fondly on the greats of the 60’s and 70’s, where horror wasn’t just about the decapitation scene or the chainsaw wielding psycho but completely immersing the audience in the psychology of horror.

Sam and Ivan Raimi have captured the essence of mind-f*** with their movie “Drag Me To Hell.” The story is about a loan officer who decides not to grant an extension on an old lady’s mortgage, unfortunately the old lady is a gypsy and places a curse on the loan officer who has three days until she is dragged to hell. It sounds like your typical 21st Century horror, however it has the feel of The Exorcist meets The Shining in Japan!

You’ll go – laugh at the right bits, scream at the scary bits then go home and turn on every light in your house.
A must see and perfect for Halloween viewing!

Standout performance: Lorna Raver as PSYCHOTIC GYPSY WOMAN – truly terrifying.

This movie is now showing at Reading Cinemas in Queenstown. This review has been written and rated by Henry-Stewart Landsborough of Reading Cinemas Queenstown.
