A developer and private planner have been appointed directors of Queenstown Lakes District Council’s planning/regulatory body Lakes Environmental.

Mike Coburn, who developed Queenstown’s Lake Hayes Estate subdivision, and former local district planner Jeff Brown join the board this month.

The pair replace Tony Hill, who retired by rotation, and Alan Bickers, who’s resigned.

“I think these appointments will be of huge benefit to the company,” mayor Vanessa van Uden says.

“I’d like to acknowledge that both Jeff and Mike are acutely aware of any potential or perceived conflict of interest that these appointments might raise but both relish the opportunity this presents for the wider community.”

Lakes Environmental’s current chairman Anne Urwin has been appointed to a further four-year term.
