Michael Collins
The All Blacks weren’t the only New Zealanders playing rugby for their country last weekend – so was Queenstowner Michael Collins.

Collins played for NZ Schools in a Test against Australian Schools in Sydney – NZ lost 26-19.

The 18-year-old second-five, who captains the Otago Boys’ High 1st XV, came on and played for the last 30 minutes.

“It was an awesome experience, stuff that you never thought was possible before.”

After a performance review the next day, Collins says his coaches were “really happy with how I progressed”.

Collins – who also captains his Dunedin school’s 1st XI cricket side – was the only South Islander in the 24-man squad.
