Queenstown’s Citizens Advice Bureau has slipped back into surplus after a funding blip caused a loss last year.
The community organisation is back in the black by $2242 after last year’s red ink of $4501, caused by a timing quirk in Central Lakes Trust’s $12,500 grant. Nevertheless, CAB’s recent 2011 financial accounts show the helping-hand group, based on Stanley Street, has lost three important revenue sources from 2010.
Gone are a $2300 Community Organisation Grants Scheme hand-out, $3305 from the SkyCity Queentown Casino Trust and $960 from the police diversion scheme.
CAB chairman John Bitcheno is on record saying the recession is biting and “we have to fight for every dollar”.
