10th anniversary: Waitiri Creek cellar door
Gibbston’s Waitiri Creek Wines celebrates the 10th anniversary of its cellar door next Wednesday.

A one-day sale on all cash-and-carry wines is planned, along with a few surprises.

The cellar door was formerly the Wangaloa Presbyterian Church, which was built in South Otago, near Kaitangata, in 1894.

The disused church was transported to its current site in April 2000.

It was finally opened for wine tastings in December 2001.

Waitiri Creek was established in 1993 and produced its first wine in 1998.

Many of its wines have won national and international awards.
