Wakatipu Croquet Club members were too busy organising their own annual tournament last weekend to take part.
The three-day event at Jardine Park attracted 23 players from around the country – including Wellington intermediate singles player Mike Beardsell (above).
Tournament manager Janet Taylor says only three locals entered the 10th anniversary competition.
None made the finals. “We were occupied providing hospitality and busy umpiring.
“We really didn’t have time to enter and we were fairly limited with numbers.”
Out-of-towners won the junior, intermediate, senior and handicap doubles.
