The Institute of Directors is to bring a well-known development course to Queenstown for the first time.

The IOD’s Otago-Southland branch launches its Governance Development Programme here on October 3.

The course comprises 10 two-hour sessions between then and next April.

Queenstowner Russell Gray, a committee member of the IOD regional branch, has been instrumental in bringing the programme to the resort.

All previous courses have been held in Dunedin, he says.

“It’s for aspiring directors new to the governance role or for those with experience who may not have had any formal governance training,” Gray says.

The local course will feature national presenters augmented by well-known regional business identities.

Attendance is limited to 20 places at $2300 each. Applicants may qualify for a New Zealand Trade and Enterprise subsidy.
