Mitch Albom (left), one of the best-known talk radio hosts in the United States, looks right at home broadcasting his hit show across the Pacific live from Queenstown.
Albom – who also penned the 11 million-selling book Tuesdays with Morrie – beamed a two-hour programme to millions of listeners in the US last Thursday lunchtime from Radio New Zealand’s tiny office in the CBD.
“My colleagues back in Detroit were jealous because I get to wear shorts in sunny Queenstown while they freeze in temperatures of minus 20,” he grins.
The megabucks media star is no stranger to the resort and says he visits when he can.
In 2005, Mountain Scene reported Albom had splashed a then-NZ record $11 million for a four hectare section above Aspen Grove, with a view to building a house.
