Invercargill’s Cowboys – which top the Southland District competition – went on to trounce the Giants 56-24.
“Our ball security was a problem, we didn’t capitalise on ball turned over to us and we tried to push too many passes,” Giants president Teaukura Moetaua says.
This Sunday the Giants travel to play the Winton Warlords.
The Giants won their first-round game against Winton – one of their only two wins this season.
