This Queenstown Primary foursome are among the top young scholars in the country.
From left are Om Shetty, nine, Mitchell Mawhinney, 12, Colin Kirkpatrick, 11, and Campbell Moroney, 13 – they earned high distinctions in an international test putting them in the leading one per cent of Kiwi kids.
Fellow schoolmates earned 24 distinctions (top 10 per cent) and 78 credits (top 30 per cent) in the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools test.
Colin, who aced science, says: “I didn’t think I’d be getting such a high mark.”
Mitchell, who also got his high distinction for science, adds: “I thought my results were mixed with someone else’s.”
Om’s high distinction was for maths and Campbell’s was spelling.
